bold chimes
silly chimes
o’the songs that played

brass keys
lie poised
a last will
and testament
of explicit words
once blotted
by a cuckoo
quill’s plume
a dictum finale
under precise
midnight chimes
straining as if
to hear
one last granddad
door open
winding melody
bequeathed now
to a stranger
of their former
