Grounded

she divides herself
between life and death
hospice work
keeps her grounded

she learned
that highs in life
are temporary
and that death
has a permanency
few desire

she laughs and cries
with the world
depending
upon the occasion

every valentine’s day
a simple wish
of hers
is that
we will
someday
all have
a little more consideration
for one another
