Nature’s Jewelry

Boys Playing in the Leaves

whittling away
at leaves
forming ankle bracelets
around little feet
that hop and crunch
her umber throw
tossing it
over heads
falling to the ground
in glee
too much
for squirrels
to bear
scampering away
in a wake
of russet
makes mother
proud
of her nurturing ways
