Bridge to Hindsight

i was captivated
by a man
i met
on the bridge to hindsight
who shared
tales of woe
cautioning
that return visits
should be outlawed
due to negative
reverberations
of wallowing
in regret
and self-pity
stressing
most vehemently
that a one way
round trip
is more than enough
for anyone

i couldn’t agree more

  8. Oh yes! No wallowing! Although I have been known to kick myself! Love this

I like objective analysis of past missteps… shining a bright light on the dark and murky places… then moving on… no wallowing allowed!

  10. I never look back. I don’t want to see the face that goes with those footsteps which seem to be gaining on me.

  11. Great poem! Just what I needed today as I wallowed in self pity.

  12. Since I can’t be there in person, here’s a virtual hug. ❤️
